Since Duli Beach Resort started operating in 2015

Since Duli Beach Resort started operating in 2015 we are active in the conservation of Marine Turtles. Since 2017 we are part of the El Nido Marine Turtle Conservation Network, together with ACF, Ten Knots and H Hospitality. This last season we built two new hatcheries in the north of El Nido. One in Bucana and one in Dagmay. Together with 3 months of patrolling we had a record of nests that were saved. 148 nest in total, resulting in 12,081 baby turtles leaving the hatcheries of Bucana, Dagmay and Duli. Almost the same amount of all previous years combined. With the help of WWF and LAMAVE we could proof our theory; there are so many more nests up here that need to be protected! Hopefully with the help of many we manage to have funding for continuation of patrolling the north in the years to come. Today we found nest #114 in the north of El Nido! The hatcheries in Bucana, Dagmay and Duli now hold a new record of 11,385 Marine Turtle Eggs! Patrolling the beaches make a big difference in the amount of nests we are bringing to safety. Marine Turtle nesting season is on!!! And the WAIF

Marine Turtle nesting season is on!!! And the WAIF project (Wildlife Adaptation and Innovation Fund) from @wwf is showing super nice results already!!! 💚

The first pillar was to build more hatcheries in El Nido.

Besides the 3 existing locations, Duli, Nacpan and Lio (with a new hatchery at Seda Lio), there are 2 new locations where hatcheries have been built. In Dagmay at the property of Chester and Lucy Lim and in Bucana at the property of Emilio Liad and Father Mark Almonicar.

The second pillar of the WAIF project is patrolling.

As we speak every night 2 patrollers are enrolled in 5 different beaches. Their presence is already proving to be of great benefits. Nests relocated into the hatcheries are more than ever before! As of today for example: Bucana -, Dagmay - and Duli beach have protected a total of 36 nest so far. Tripple of what we had last year!

We look forward to the rest of the season and the results of having the patrollers on the beaches until half of February.

(Third pillar will be educational outreach).
